The Barnard English Department discusses the role of literature in understanding the 2016 presidential election.
Monday, November 21, 2016
In the wake of the 2016 election, why and how do we defend the space for complex critical thought, humane conversation, the imagination, and a use of language that cannot be reduced to slogans and soundbites? Faculty members of the English Department will present brief reflections on the role of literature in a time of turmoil. Topics may include the multiple meanings of intellectual resistance, the common good, the shift of the real from reality TV to reality, feminism & the problem of silence.
A public discussion will follow. Please join us.
